Moving Average MultitoolI made this script as a personal tool while backtesting multiple moving averages. It allows you to easily access and switch between different types of moving averages, without having to continuously add and remove different moving averages from your chart.
It also has the option to show the a 14 period average distance between the closing price of an asset and the selected moving average, as a multiple of ATR. This number can be shown by enabling the "Show ATR Between MA and Close" setting. The intention of this value is to quantify and compare the speed of different moving averages across any instrument and any timeframe. The higher the value, the slower the moving average. The lower the value, the faster the moving average.

+ Ultimate MAWhat is the "Ultimate MA" exactly, you ask? Simple. It actually takes as its influence the Rex Dog Moving Average (which I have included as an MA in some of my other indicators), an invention by xkavalis that is simply an average of different length moving averages.
It's available for free on his account, so take a look at it.
I've recently become drawn to using fibonacci sequence numbers as lookbacks for moving averages, and they work really well (I'm honestly beginning to think the number doesn't matter).
You can see where this is going. The Ultimate MA is an average of several (eight) moving averages of varying lengths (5 - 144) all of fibonacci numbers. Sounds pretty basic, right? That's not actually the case, however.
If you were to take all these numbers, add them up, then average them by eight you'd get ~46. Now, stick a 46 period moving average on the chart and compare it to this one and see what you get. They track price very differently. Still, this all sort of sounds like I'm copying the RDMA, which isn't a sin in itself but is hardly grounds for releasing a new MA into the wild.
The actual initial problem I wanted to tackle was how to take in to account for the entire range of price action in a candle in a moving average. ohlc4 sort of does this, but it's still just one line that is an average of all these prices, and I thought there might be a better way not claiming that what I came upon is, but I like it).
My solution was to plot two moving averages: one an average of price highs, and the other an average of lows, thus creating a high/low price channel. Perhaps this is not a new thing at all. I don't know. This is just an idea I had that I figured I could implement easily enough.
Originally I had just applied this to a 21 period EMA, but then the idea sort of expanded into what you see here. I kept thinking "is 21 the best?" What about faster or slower? Then I thought about the RDMA and decided on this implimentation.
Further, I take the high and low moving averages and divide them by two in order to get a basis. You can turn all this stuff on or off, though I do like the default settings.
After that I wanted to add bands to it to measure volatility. There is an RDMA version that utilizes ATR bands, but I could never find myself happy with these.
I just wanted something... else. I also, actually made my own version of xkavalis' RDMA bands with some of the extra stuff I included here, but obviously didn't feel comfortable releasing it as an indicator as I hadn't changed it enough significantly in my mind to fairly do so. I eventually settled on Bollinger Bands as an appropriate solution to apply to the situation. I really like them. It took some fiddling because I had to create a standard deviation for both the high and low MAs instead of just one, and then figure out the best combination of moving averages and standard deviations to add and subtract to get the bands right.
Then I decided I wanted to add a few different moving averages to choose from instead of just an EMA even though I think it's the "best." I didn't want to make things too complicated, so I just went with the standards--EMA, SMA, WMA, HMA-- + 1, the ALMA (which gives some adjustability with its offset and sigma).
Also, you can run more than one moving average at a time (try running an HMA with a slower one).
Oh yeah, the bands? You can set them, in a dropdown box, to be based on which ever moving average you want.
Furthermore, this is a multi-timeframe indicator, so if you want to run it on a higher time frame than the one you are trading on, it's great for that.
ALSO, I actually have the basis color setup as multi-timeframe. What this means is that if you are looking at an hourly chart, you can set the color to a 4h (or higher) chart if you want, and if the current candle is above or below the previous close of the basis on that higher timeframe you will know simply by looking at the color of it ((while still being on the hourly chart). It's just a different way of utilizing higher timeframe information, but without the indicator itself plotted as higher timeframe.
I'm nearly finished. Almost last thing is a 233 period moving average. It's plotted as an average of the SMA, EMA, and Kijun-sen.
Lastly, there are alerts for price crossing the inner border of the bands, or the 233 MA.

Logarithmic Moving Average [TusSensei]Logarithmic moving averages involve mathematical modification of classical moving averages(EMA-RMA-SMA). Logarithmic modified averages deviate high over short time periods. For long time periods, it behaves exactly like the original moving averages. Its basic formulation is (MovingAverage x (1 + (1 / log(length))).
The most important reason for the operability of logarithmic moving averages is the time periods they use. The values used are 21-55-149-404-1098-2981. These numbers are the consecutive powers of the number "e", which is the base of the natural logarithm (rounded up to an integer).
In this script you will also see another moving average called SQRT. This moving average is equal to the square root of the product of the EMA and the RMA. In other words, it is a moving average that is the geometric mean of two averages. In this script, you can use all of the EMA-RMA-SQRT and SMA averages in the classical and modified way. For formulaic modification, it is sufficient to select "mEMA", "mRMA" forms from the setting section.

Red sell start = current close < the close 4 candles back
Yellow sell extended = current close < last close and current close < two closes back
Green buy start = current close > the close 4 candles back
Yellow buy extended = current close last close and current close < two closes back
This can help you find when it’s time to get out, or sit out of a choppy trend.

Contains utilities for generating moving average values including getting a moving average by name and a function for generating a Volume-Adjusted WMA.
vawma(len, src, volumeDefault) VAWMA = VWMA and WMA combined. Simply put, this attempts to determine the average price per share over time weighted heavier for recent values. Uses a triangular algorithm to taper off values in the past (same as WMA does).

Inside Bar Identification:
This is to simply identify if there is a inside bar candle. The logic is very simple - High of the previous candle should be higher than current candle and low of the previous candle should be lower than the current candle.
If the previous candle is red, the following candle would be Yellow - which may give some bullish view in most of the cases but not always
If the previous candle is green, the following candle would be Black - which may give some bearish view in most of the cases but not always
Be Cautious when you see alternate yellow and black candle, it may give move on the both side

This script is unique in that it allows the user to chart the "Guppy", except nearly everything about it is customizable. The user can change the source, period, and type of moving average used for every single line.
Typically, the Guppy is plotted with simple moving average or exponential moving average, which respond much slower to price than the Hull Moving Average, which this indicator uses as default. (Elimination of lag)
The Hull MA settings for the highest time frame moving averages should work well for assessing the overall macro trend, with a nice visual presentation. Additional labels and alerts for the macro trend are available.

7 Moving Averages [Plus]Moving Averages are price based, lagging (or reactive) indicators that display the average price of a security over a set period of time. A Moving Average is a good way to gauge momentum as well as to confirm trends, and define areas of support and resistance. Essentially, Moving Averages smooth out the “noise” when trying to interpret charts. Noise is made up of fluctuations of both price and volume. Because a Moving Average is a lagging indicator and reacts to events that have already happened, it is not used as a predictive indicator but as an interpretive one for confirmations and analysis.
Bollinger Bands (BB) are a widely popular technical analysis instrument created by John Bollinger. The BB consist of a band of three lines which are plotted in relation to security prices. The line in the middle is usually a Simple Moving Average (SMA) set to a period of 20 days (the type of trend line and period can be changed by the trader; however a 20 day moving average is by far the most popular). The SMA then serves as a base for the Upper and Lower Bands which are used as a way to measure volatility by observing the relationship between the Bands and price. Typically the Upper and Lower Bands are set to two standard deviations away from the SMA (The Middle Line); however the number of standard deviations can also be adjusted by the trader.

The color of MA1 depends on the chosen strategy, by default this is the 3EMA strategy. You can also select "Pivot Point Supertrend" or "Ichimoku Trend"
Added "Parabolic Stop and Reverse (PSAR)" . The PSAR is a time and price technical analysis tool primarily used to identify points of potential stops and reverses. In fact, the SAR in Parabolic SAR stands for "Stop and Reverse". The indicator's calculations create a parabola which is located below price during a Bullish Trend and above Price during a Bearish Trend.
Added "Linear Regression Channel" which can be correctly plotted on logarithmic charts. A linear regression channel consists of a median line with 2 parallel lines, above and below it, at the same distance. Those lines can be seen as support and resistance. The median line is calculated based on linear regression of the closing prices but the source can also be set to open, high or low. The height of the channel is based on the deviation of price to the median line. Extrapolating the channel forward can help to provide a bias and to find trading opportunities.
SMA PredictionThis indicator predicts future moving average (SMA) values assuming the prices remains at configured level (-50% to +50%).
It can be used to predict golden/death crosses as well - when two of these indicators are on - one configured for length 50 and one for length 200.

Using 21-candle moving average volume values compared to the current candle volume, you can graphically see the volume as it comes in - as a percentage of the historic 1X volume moving average.
Getting close to 2X or 5X of the 21-candle SMA? Just glance at the transparent plots behind the volume bars - or the actual percentage value in yellow.
Never wonder again how much volume that bar is compared to previous volume - now you know. Set alerts based on the volume crossing your chosen volume SMA. VALUE ADDED: This script is unique in that no other Bollinger Bands indicator offers a user selection for moving average, and some of the options do not exist yet as Bollinger Bands indicators.
Definitions:
Bollinger Bands: A Bollinger Band® is a technical analysis tool defined by a set of trendlines plotted two standard deviations (positively and negatively) away from a simple moving average (SMA) of a security's price, but which can be adjusted to user preferences.
Exponential Bollinger Bands: The most important characteristics of the Exponential Bollinger Bands indicator are: When the market is flat, the bands will stay much closer to prices. When the volatility is high, the bands move away from prices faster.
Hull Bollinger Bands: Bollinger Bands calculated by Hull moving average, rather than simple moving average or ema. The Hull Moving Average (HMA), developed by Alan Hull, is an extremely fast and smooth moving average. In fact, the HMA almost eliminates lag altogether and manages to improve smoothing at the same time.
Exponential Hull Bollinger Bands: Bollinger Bands calculated by Exponential Hull moving average, rather than simple moving average or ema. The Exponential Hull Moving Average is similar to the standard Hull MA, but with superior smoothing. The standard Hull Moving Average is derived from the weighted moving average (WMA). As other moving average built from weighted moving averages it has a tendency to exaggerate price movement.
Weighted Moving Average Bollinger Bands: A Weighted Moving Average (WMA) is similar to the simple moving average (SMA), except the WMA adds significance to more recent data points.
Arnaud Legoux Moving Average Bollinger Bands: ALMA removes small price fluctuations and enhances the trend by applying a moving average twice, once from left to right, and once from right to left. At the end of this process the phase shift (price lag) commonly associated with moving averages is significantly reduced. Zero-phase digital filtering reduces noise in the signal. Conventional filtering reduces noise in the signal, but adds a delay.
Least Squares Bollinger Bands: The indicator is based on sum of least squares method to find a straight line that best fits data for the selected period. The end point of the line is plotted and the process is repeated on each succeeding period.
Up/Down Indicator - DurbtradeA simple but unique indicator to show ONLY whether there is an increase or a decrease in price compared to the previous value.
Also includes a customizable SMA or EMA based "Smoothing Length" variable,
allowing the indicator to show whether the SMA or the EMA of the price
is up or down compared to the previous value.
An offset option is also included if you need it.

Personal thoughts :
I wanted to have an indicator that showed ONLY whether the price is UP or DOWN from the previous value.
My logic was that I could have a more accurate perception of general up or down trend direction
if I removed the AMOUNT of increase or decrease happening from moment to moment over time.
From there, I added the SMA/EMA "Smoothing Length" and "Smoothing Type" variables into the script.
By increasing the value of the smoothing length above 1,
the indicator act as a color-changing moving average, except without showing an actual value.
"Smooth Length" acts just like the length of any other moving average...
When the value of the "Smooth Length" is = 1, the indicator shows whether PRICE is up or down.
When the value of the "Smooth Length" is = 50, the indicator shows whether the MOVING AVERAGE with a length of 50 is up or down.
When the value of the "Smooth Type" is = 1, the indicator is SMA based.
When the value of the "Smooth Type" is = 2, the indicator is EMA based.
As you can see in the main chart above, or in the picture below, I show the indicator in 2 different ways...
The indicator on the top shows price up/down action,
and the indicator on the bottom shows the 50 SMA up/down action :
Other key points :
The indicator height can be smashed down as small as possible and still remain 100% functional...
which is very important when chart real-estate is limited.
Here is an example of my main layout setup, with the Up/Down indicator on the top left :
As you can see, it takes up very little space, but still remains fully functional.
In the example above, I have it overlayed on the left chart price panel,
with the price visibility turned off.
If it is overlayed on the price panel like so, and you want to see both the indicator and price,
simply turn the price visibility on to see both.
Since the indicator displays itself merely by changing the color of the background,
layer order has no effect, and the indicator is always drawn in the background.
The Up/Down indicator can also be used in conjunction with other candle types
that sometimes display candle color differently than standard candles, such as heikin-ashi candles.
Just take note that the colors of the indicator may not match the colors of the heikin-ashi candles.
Finally, I looked very hard to find an indicator like this on TradingView, and found absolutely nothing.
I know that it is a simple concept, but I'm honestly surprised I couldn't find anything like it.
I have been using it for awhile now, and I'm proud of the results...
